Buying insurance for residents

The Jiading District Government purchased commercial insurance for 582,000 people with registered permanent residence and those with temporary residence permit in the category of talents.

The government signed an agreement with the Shanghai Branch of China Life on integrated insurance covering accidents and natural disasters.

Beginning on January 1, 2013, these residents can get insurance of up to 200,000 yuan (US$32,150) when deaths or disabilities are caused by natural disasters, fires, explosions or being hit by flying objects. They can also receive up to 50,000 yuan in case of injuries or death caused by drowning or electric shock.

New Metro line

The west section of Metro Line 13 from Jinyun Road Station to Jinshajiang Road Station opened on December 30, 2012. It saves about half an hour for Jiading residents when traveling to or back from the city center. Stretching 9 kilometers, the west section of Line 13 has seven stations. Passengers can transfer to lines 3 and 4 at Jinshajiang Road Station.

Housing project

Construction has started on the low-income housing project at Huangdu residential area. When completed, the project will provide homes for 80,000 people. In the first phase of the project, about 7,820 low-income apartments will be built by 2014 in its

No. 3 lot.

Shopping center

Zhongye Xiangteng City Square in Nanxiang Town has opened for trial operation. Standing next to Nanxiang Station of Metro Line 11, the complex integrates commercial shops, office buildings and high-end residences. Nearly 100 famous brands including Starbucks, Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, City Shop, Uniqlo and Paris Baguette have settled in the square and more than 70 percent have already opened for business.

Traffic hub

The Nanxiang Public Traffic Hub opened on December 31. It was the fourth traffic hub coming into service in 2012.

Automobile city

Shanghai International Automobile City has recently got the certificate of “International Scientific Cooperation Base for Electric Automobiles.”
